heavy rain started). This bird was the fourth species
heard singing in the dawn chorus, begining four minutes
after European Robin (Erithacus rubecula) and
13 minute before Common Blackbird (Turdus merula).

Dawn
singing pattern of an unpaired male Common Redstart
in mature oak pasture. Sung 1501
stropes between 03:33 and 07:32 before
heavy, continuous rain started. Following sustained
singing for 90 mins, peaking at nine strophes per minute,
there was a gradual decline in output after 05:00, with
occasional peaks until 06:35. Recorded with a passive
acoustic monitor (AudioMoth) from 00:00 to 09:00.

Alarm calls from a female Common Redstart with food
for nestlings or fledglings in sheep pasture with small
oak copses. Two call types: an upslurred Chiffchaff-like
hueet (2.9-4.5 kHz) and a sharp Robin-like
teak (3.4-7.0 kHz).
