Calling song/stridulation from a male Meadow Grasshopper (Chorthippus parallelus) in long grass bordered by Hawthorn/Blackthorn/Gorse scrub.

A short rattle composed of up to 14 elements in bursts up to 1.6 sec (at 25°C), begining quietly and quickly increasing in volume, before ending abruptly.

Calling song/stridulation from a male Meadow Grasshopper (Chorthippus parallelus) in long grass bordered by Hawthorn/Blackthorn/Gorse scrub.

A short rattle composed of up to 17 elements in bursts up to 3.0 sec (at 17°C), begining quietly and quickly increasing in volume, before ending abruptly. Compare the speed of this individual at lower temperature with the above at higher temperature on 1 Aug 2018.

A short rattle composed of up to 14 elements in bursts up to 2.75 sec (at 22.2°C ambient room temp, no heat lamp or direct sun), begining quietly and quickly increasing in volume, before ending abruptly.
